In one sentence

WordQuest Kids works offline, needs no account, and does not collect, upload, or share any personal information. School word lists, study progress, and dictation records stay on your device, and the developer cannot see them.

How we use permissions

• Camera: to scan a paper word list from the teacher. The scanned image is used only to recognize text on the device. The app does not keep or upload the image. Recognized text goes into the import box first, so you can check it before saving.
• If the device cannot scan documents, the app opens the system camera or photo picker and reads only the one image you take or choose.
• Clipboard: text is read only when you tap the Paste button, to import a word list.

The app does not use the microphone, location, contacts, or health data.

What stays on your device

• School word lists (this week and earlier), the chosen course, and each word's progress and review schedule
• Dictation records, including the answers your child typed
• Vocabulary check results, including each answer and the time taken
• Settings: voice engine, British or American accent, and text size
• Pronunciation cache: word audio generated on the device, which the system may remove when storage is low

All of this is stored in the app's local storage and is never sent to the developer or any third party.

Pronunciation and text recognition

English pronunciation is generated on the device by a speech model built into the app; a few words use the system's offline voices instead. Scanning uses Apple's text recognition, also on the device. None of this needs a network connection.

Third parties and tracking

WordQuest Kids includes no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The app makes no network requests of its own and has no in-app purchases, external links, or social sharing. The open-source components built into the app (the Kokoro speech model, the Misaki pronunciation dictionary, and ONNX Runtime) run only on the device and collect no data. We do not, and cannot, profile you or your child or track you across apps.

Children's privacy

WordQuest Kids is designed for children and families. It never asks for a name, age, school, email address, or any other personal information, collects none, and shows no ads. We suggest a parent helps with importing word lists and choosing a course.

Backups

WordQuest Kids does not use iCloud sync. If iCloud Backup or computer backups are turned on for your iPhone or iPad, the system backup may include this app's data, managed by Apple according to your backup settings.

Deleting your data

Delete WordQuest Kids from your device to remove all of its local data, including learning records and the pronunciation cache. The developer never receives this data, so no server copy exists.

Changes

This policy covers WordQuest Kids 1.0. If a future version adds network or AI features, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before those features are released.
